Student Projects

Project-Based Learning puts students at the center of their education by guiding them through real-world challenges and creative problem-solving.
This page showcases select projects from previous school years. Projects are usually divided by color groups:
Yellow (K–1)
Rose (2–3)
Blue (4–6)
Green (7–8)
Purple (9–12)
Larger projects involve students working across all color groups.
Current school year projects may also appear on this page. More student project content may be found on our social media accounts.

Project: Gardens
Our gardening projects were fun and a lot of hard work. Students rolled logs, carried rocks, dug and raked, and even learned to use leaf blowers as they cleared paths and shaped new beds. Along the way, they became naturalists, discovering earthworms, beetles, grubs, ants, frogs, the occasional snake, and even a few animal bones. The effort built real confidence and ownership of the space. Groups occasionally blended, especially when tasks grew tougher. Teamwork in action!
Pollinator Garden (Yellow and Rose groups)
Yellow and Rose group students researched pollinator gardens and their important role in the environment. They planted a variety of seeds and also helped prepare a section of our campus for future plants.
Zen Garden (Blue group)
Blue group students began construction of a Zen garden. The project involved research on history, design, and benefits, as well as measurements and planning. Construction will continue during the 2025–2026 school year. Blue group students also created Zen gardens using Minecraft Education.
Edible Garden (Green group)
Green group students worked hard to transform an old garden space into an area ready for planting and growing fruits, vegetables, and herbs. This project involved research on design, benefits, measurements, planning, and gardening and landscaping tools. Green group students also created Zen gardens using Minecraft Education.

Minecraft Zen Gardens
Below are several Zen gardens created in Minecraft Education. These gardens were selected from a larger group of students in the Blue and Green groups (2024–2025). Each garden also features a Japanese-style tea house. All groups will learn more about the history and benefits of tea during the 2025–2026 school year.
